Since 1998, the International Ragdoll Congress is held every two years during the course of a TICA-show. In 2004 this special show took place for the very first time outside the USA in Europe, more exactly in Ruesselsheim near Frankfurt/Germany. However, a Ragdoll Congress is not only a Ragdoll special with extra show rings for Ragdoll kittens, - adults and alters, it actually starts with several seminars held a couple of days before the show. The renowned guest speakers are real experts in their field: Dr Susan Little and TICA Allbreed judge Beth Hicks refereed about highly interesting and hot topics such as raising newborn kittens, genetic disorders in cats, FIP, early altering, how to choose breeding cats, the Ragdoll standard, results of the Ragdoll study, breeding and showing Ragdolls, etc.

Such Ragdoll highlights are always a great opportunity to meet Raggy friends from far and near. So not only the Ragdoll exhibitors were international (from Germany, Austria, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, USA, Slowenia), but the show visitors as well. Of course the most Ragdoll fans were from Germany, others had arrived from England, Canada, Switzerland, Austria, and Sweden… so there was a big "Hello" everywhere and time was flying...

Unfortunately I was only able to be present at the show for a couple of hours and had to leave quite a while before its official end. Although I had planned to take pictures of every single Ragdoll in the show hall, it simply wasn't possible in this short time. So I am double delighted that so many "Ragdoller" were so kind to send me their photo treasures for publication. So a BIG THANK YOU to all who allowed me to photograph them and their cats so readily, and especially to Hanny Bosshard/Switzerland, Scottie Cone/USA, Maria Kres/Sweden, Susan Leach/Canada, and all other Ragdoll owners and photographers for their great pictures! Without your support the following pages - hopefully a nice memory to this Ragdoll-event - wouldn't have been possible. I am still overwhelmed about the unbelievably great assistance - Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

By the way, there is still muuuuch room in this article. So please don't hesitate to submit any of your photos of the seminars, the bankett, or the show, or if you have photos from the traditional judging, of the Ragdoll visitors from the various countries, or the presentation of the special prizes to the winners. Please let me know if you noticed any errors in the article.

Just a short explanation of the used abbrevations in the cat information: B - breeder, O - owner, E - exhibitor, S - sire, D - dam. The number next to the show class shows the age of the individual cat. So for example "0.6" means 6 months old, or "1.3", one year and three months old. And last but not least, it has to be mentioned that the magnificent colors of the cat's eyes and fur is not always visible in the pictures. Especially since normal cameras using a flash had problems in the show hall, and at the last when it came to scan the pictures, the quality was gone. This was the point you remembered why you have been wishing for a proper digital camera for quite a while already...
