ithout doubt, Jack Frost and Bit O'Honey are the foundation cats of a true Ragdoll dynasty! As ancestors of almost all Ragdolls descending from Catastrophe/Lonerock cattery (Sue Villareal & her husband, Dr. Doug Hambach, USA), they can be found in nearly every Ragdoll pedigree of today.
ack Frost past away in 2002. This memorial was written by Doug, and is used with his kind permission:
"
ur Ragdolls have come a long
way in the last 15 years, and among many notable foundation Ragdolls, the name Sugarpaw Jack Frost of Lonerock/Catastrophe shines brightly.
n October 23, 2002, our foundation breeder and great friend Sugarpaw Jack Frost, died. Our hearts are on the ground. Yet, when we think of him, we feel good because he made our lives a little better. Perhaps your life too is a little better because of him, as evidenced by the cats you now have? A huge percentage of the Ragdoll breed carries his blood!
ack personified the Ragdoll breed and he passed on the qualities - - his wonderful, laid-back personality, his innate goodness, the beautiful coat,
and his robust good health. Thousands of Ragdolls today carry on these wonderful traits.
ack was born in 1986 when the world knew little about Ragdolls. Look up your pedigrees, especially those of your cats with the best personalities.
Chances are good that you just might find Jack's name. And, if by chance you grieve a little for his loss, we well understand, as that's where we are now: happy to have had him and even sadder to have lost him."
n the same year (2002), Ragdoll International announced the Sugarpaw Jack Frost Award, a new annual award to be given in Loving Memory of Jack Frost. This perpetual plaque - donated by Cathy Bridges, Kim Balas, Lisa Gilmer and Jean Ransdell - will be annually awarded to the top combined kitten and cat/alter score Ragdoll, in a show season.
y heartfelt congratulations to beautiful Furreal Gringo, blue bicolor, and his owners/breeders Mary and Cliff Riddell on winning the First Annual Sugarpaw Jackfrost Award for 2002-2003!
