Legendary Ragdolls
"Ragtime Bartholomew" from the Guinness Book of Records
lanche Herman (USA) is - like Denny Dayton - one of the early Ragdoll breeders who supported the breed with a unique dedication and perseverance. She was secretary of the Ragdoll Fanciers Club (RFC), and she took every opportunity to promote the breed, for example by showing in CFA. She bred beautiful Ragdolls under her cattery prefix "Ragtime" for 11 years (a couple of years later there was founded a Ragdoll cattery in England with the same cattery name, but there is no connection to Blanche Herman whatsoever). I especially remember one of her cats, "Ragtime Bartholomew", and I am very honored that I am able to present you this gorgeous boy on this page.
lanche wrote me: "I purchased my first Ragdolls in 1973, and after that I worked with Denny Dayton.
artholomew, seal mitted (Dam: "Ragtime Mocha", seal mitted; Sire: "Blossom-Time Tony of Ragtime", seal bicolor), was born in 1979, he weighed 17 lbs. and lived to be 14 years old. I sold him as a kitten and bought him back a few months later as his new owners had mistreated him. He was happy to be back home, was very docile and loving, but from his bad experience I could not show him. When he became ill from mouth cancer, I had him treated at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana, but he did not survive.
he Guinness Book of Records contacted me and wanted to know if the Ragdoll was the largest breed. I replied that I did not know and sent them a photo of Bartholomew and his weight of 17 lbs. They determined that the Ragdoll was the largest breed. His photo is pictured in the 1986 Guinness Book of Records and also in the 1986 Guinness Book of Pet Records."

lanche was so kind to enclose two more pictures of her cats which I also want to share with you. The cats are:
"Ragtime Perrywinkle", seal mitted
Dam: "Ragtime Babe", seal mitted
Sire: "Ragtime (Hoosier) Little Boy", seal colorpoint
-
errywinkle has been in over 50 shows and became ACFA's International Best Ragdoll of the Year in 1986 -
and "Ragtime Dixie", seal colorpoint
DOB: August 18, 1981
Dam: "Opal of Blossom Time", seal mitted
Sire: "Ragtime (Hoosier) Little Boy", seal colorpoint.

The last two months of her live I gave her intrevenous feedings every day and she knew they were helping her. As of 2000, her brother Bunky is still alive, and recently
turned 19 years old."
